Anyone experienced a whine when having the AC turned on?

The whine is only there when the AC is on, doesn't matter if i'm at idle or have the throttle fully open.

I haven't taken it to the shop yet, since I was hoping it was an easy fix and not the AC compressor going out.

I have read about the clamp on the steering fluid pump. I'll try that tomorrow and see how well it works, but the clamp that is on the hose now seems pretty tight, and the hose looks like its in great condition.

BTW. I love driving this car. What I hate is the cost of replacement parts. Shesh....$150 for a shifter?

 

First of all is it a diesel and what year does your car make a whining noise on full lock if it does check the on way pulley on the alterater these go bad and when you put the ac on this makes the noise because the ac needs more power from the alternater
