air conditioning issue
helly guys,
i have an issue with the ac on my 04 a4. The side vents on the dash work just fine blowing cold air, but the 2 vents on the center of the dash dont seem to work, they are blowing just regualar air. I had the guys at firestone take a look at it, they recharged the gas though they said it wasnt necessary and told me that the entire dash needed to be removed to have it fixed.
I just wanted your opinion before I took it down to the dealer and paid all that money to have this fixed. Is there an easier fix or is the firestone guy correct?
Please let me know.
Vick

Hey Vic,
Follow this closely.
The A/C blows into ALL the vents. If you get cold out of one but not all, then you DON'T need a recharge. If you aren't getting good performance from your system and aren't able to repair it yourself then a mechanic will need to be paid handsomely for his skills, whether it's a dealer or an indy.
Recharging the system was about as logical as changing the air in the tires! Obviously the Firestone guy doesn't know much about A/C systems. Hopefully he knows tires and shocks and that sort of stuff.
