Default APR Stage 1+ same on 04 as 02?

I have an opportunity to pick up a used APR Stage 1+ kit with injectors. The car that it is currently on is a 2002 1.8T 5spd Quattro. I have a 2004 1.8t 6spd Quattro. I am planning on just installing the chip into my ECU and the injectors and running my car.

Has anyone here tried this? is there something I should look out for.

Even though they are both B6 models, the 2002 has differences from the 2003+, most notably the ECU. You should not be able to swap 2002 ECU programming/chip in to anything but a 2002, IIRC. In fact, I remember when stage 3+ first came out, it was only for 2003+ B6's.

i would still check the ECU # because when i was having problem with my 2003 ecu we were able to pick one up off of an 02 as long as the numbers matched. all we did was take it to the dealer and turn the immobilizer off.....

wait... dealer..... chips..... hmmm nevermind

sorry!

So I talked with APR today and apparently there is some "Immobilizer" that needs to get disabled. He said that we would both need to ship our ECU's to APR and they would do it for $150.00 each....

He said that the 02 chip will work just fine in the 04 but anytime you move the chip/ecu then you have to get this immobilizer changed.

He also said that I cannot move the chip from ECU to ECU (I wanted to just get the chip sent and not switch ECU's)as it is extremely difficult.

Anybody here have any experience with this? I am not totally clear on this.

Thanks again for all your help!

not to hijack this thread but i am goign to be trading my ECU with APR programming on it later this summer for a stock one that i can put some Revo Stage 3 software on.

what is the best way to do this?
1. have the buyer send me the stock ECU and then take both down to the dealer and have them reset?
2. can we just swap then i can take the stock one down to the dealer (not in the car of course) and have it done without having the orignal one?

thanks!
