Default Audi A4 2004 1.8T:Need Help :Trade-in or buy extended warranty

Hello,

I am a novice at best when it comes to car repairs etc.
I own Audi A4 2004 1.8T, with 56K miles on it. I have paid of this car
I bought this car in 2007 and it has CPO warranty till July 2010.
This car drives great and is in excellent condition when it comes to paint, interior etc. I only drive on an average 7-8K miles /year.
The KBB value for trade in, is around $9K+.

Having said all that, I need help deciding from following 3 options:

1) Buy extended warranty 4 years/48K from Audi dealer for $3100+tax (total being $3450 appx), which is identical to the CPO warranty. this has zero deductibles unlike CPO which had $50 deductibles.
or
2) Trade-in this vehicle for $9K+ and buy a 2007/8 Audi A4 (I love A4s) and finance around 12-15K.
or
3) Not worry about buying extended warranty (again I do not anything about repairs and rely on Audi dealers to tell me what's wrong) and continue to drive this vehicle and rather do a CD of 3500

All feedback/guidance are appreciated and thanks for your time reading through this.

Thanks again!

Depends on your financial situation I guess. Can you afford a payment when financing 12-15K?

If not, go for the extended warranty. I got an extended warranty when I bought my A4, and it ended up paying to replace my engine. A $5000 repair job.

IMO, DO NOT let the warranty expire and do nothing.

Whether you replace the car or get an EW, you will be covered with a warranty.

Thanks Bombguy for the advise.
One follow-up question:

Is the cost (~$3500 for 4year/48K) for extended warranty sounds reasonable? It's from National Car Warranty and fully transferable in case i decide to sell this vehicle and is offered via my Audi Dealer.

Thanks again!

That is approximately what I paid for the life of the loan. (5 years)

When signing the paperwork, I actually thought of maybe declining the EW. Since I had to have my engine replaced, I thank God I decided to go with it. I dont have $5K to pay for a repair.

Thanks again Bombguy, looks like buying EW is the best thing I can do without starting another loan/finance

Well, take a look at your finances. Then take a look at the 09s. The B8s look really good IMO.

If you can afford it.....

Thank Bombguy.
Are you buying extended warranty ?as it looks like your warranty is expiring soon.
based on your signature you have 2005 A4 and you mentioned you brought 5 year extended warranty.

I did get the 5 year warranty. But I bought the car in March 2009, so I am good through 2014.

Oh ok, so you did get the third party factory warranty that is good to know.

Thanks for all the info, i guess i will stick to the plan of buying third party(dealer authorized) extended warranty.

Glad I could help man. These cars need some time at the dealer now and again. But when you have the best looking car in the parking lot, it is worth it IMO.
