Audi Original Warranty Customer Service
Hi
I just got off with a Customer service whatever regarding a potential problem with the drivers front seat.
It seems that there is a 1 inch length of stitching that is starting to fray which could be a problem down the road.
Customer service said without skipping a beat that it was not covered under the orig warranty period. I tried to explain to her that it was a defect rather then wear and tear and even though it is a 2005 it only has 18,000 miles on the clock and it was used for long drives when it was driven being that it's a convertible (Spring/Summer car). The color is Alpaka but l don't think that would make any difference.
Now l had this problem once before with a Mercedes and the the first thing that they said was that they were sorry and that l should bring it to my dealer and show it to them and if l had a problem l should call back and she gave me a case number.
The dealer also said that they were sorry and replaced the section of the seat to perfection (black).
Is this common with the Audi's or did l just speak to the wrong person.
Thanks
Alan

I think you'll hear that from all the customer service reps. When I purchased my A4, they told me about an Equipment Protection program that covers the coating of my exterior, tears in the seats, and dings/dents. I had to buy that extra coverage and it's covered for 3 years.
I also had to buy a Tire Protection program separately, which lasts for 5 years.
So in a nutshell, I'm pretty sure the Audi warrenty doesn't cover seats.
