I have 2003 audi a4. 1.8t. I am new to audi. Never owned or worked on one ever. Mine is automatic and I was wondering if they are worth building the motor in or not. I have a build list fur motor already i just don't know much about these trans yet. Are they strong or do i need to get the trans built? Im looking at a list that will put about 325-350 awhp

 

Someone may over rule me, but you cannot strengthen an automatic tranny and it is the weak link for a built motor. I read lots of posts by guys who built their A6 2.7T and ruined the tip trannies. I destroyed the clutch and flywheel with mine and replaced both with heavy duty units. The tip trannies in the 4.2 V8 were also weak links. My advice is don't bother unless you have deep pockets, and even then start with a vehicle newer than 15 years old and a manual tranny.
