So the local shop I normally take my car to inadvertently put the wrong weight synth oil. They put in 10w30 instead of 5w30 in my '02 A4 with 3.0L. I drove away before noticing on the invoice. It's got 76,000 and the weather in our area is still fairly warm with Fall creeping in. Should I drain and replace, or will I be OK. The manual says 5w30.
Thanks!
Thanks!

It's not a turbo car, so the slightly heavier weight is not a real factor. If it was my car, I would drive it 2-3 months and then when it starts getting cold, change it to a proper weight. BTW, in addition to the 2.7T I also have a 2003 A4 3.0 MT6. The original owner ran dinosaur oil for the first 70k miles and then I switched over to Mobil1 5W-30. The engine is fine.

I agree 1030 will not hurt it, especially if you have warmer weather. I use Mobil1 1030 in the summer and then switch back to Mobil1 530 during the winter on my 3.0, it is a littler easier on the motor.
Thanks for the reassurance. It's still warm here so I'll be okay for a couple months at least.

Yeah don't worry. It's fine. 0w30 for colder weather but then again I have a 1.8T
