Battery, alternator, Transmission
Hello, Im new to this forum posting so please be patient. Have 2002 A4 with 92k Has run great. Yesterday went to start and battery dead. Jumped start and ran the car about 100 yards, stopped, car was idleing fine and then died.
Had to rejump. Got the the car back to my drive way under its own power. Noticed the ESP warning light was on. Turned car off to see if it would start up on its own. Of course it wouldnt and acted like a simple dead battery. Jump started again now i have no power when foot pressed on accellerator and transmission wont engage. Have CVT touchtronic. Could all this come from a bad battery. Can any one give me an idea what im dealing with here. Do i have to reset something after the battery dies.

Take the battery out and go have it tested. Check with parts stores for a replacement battery before you leave the house so you don't waste a trip incase your battery is bad.
Once the car is running (usually above idle) the electrical stuff runs off power from the alternator, but if the battery is bad it won't matter. It's like having a faulty or opened circuit. Most cars won't run if you take the battery out after you start them, and a bad battery is esentially the same thing.
