Before I buy?
Hi everyone,
I am new to audiforums but was referred by my friend (not sure of his username). I am thinking about purchasing an audi A4 2002 4-Cyl 1.8L Turbo used with 60,000 miles.
I did some research on the car today, and the driver reviews I read had some overwhelming recurring themes:
High maintenance: Especially with the timing belt & "sludge" in the engine. Basic wear and tear repairs (headlights, wipers) costing a great deal over domestic.
Excellent performance in weather: People said the car was overall a dream to drive (when not broken down :P), especially in poor weather conditions with the AWD.
My questions are; Would you rate this car as reliable? What are some preventative steps I can take before I buy? What other advice can you give a potential Audi buyer?
Any input would be very much appreciated. Thanks everyone for your help

All depends how it was treated by the previous owner.
Timing belt should be changed at around 70-90K miles.
Full Synthetic oil should decrease a chance of sludge problems a lot.
Look for any leaks, all the maintaince records and etc.
