Default Better sounding a4

I drive a 2002 a4 1.8t quattro. I want to make it sound better. Stock is way too quiet for me. But I want to spend as little as possible because id rather be putting my money into performance parts. So of course I looked into straight piping it. Has anyone ever had experience with this? I want to leave the catalytic converter and just take out the muffler and resonator or one or the other. (just the muffler/just the resonator) or is there anything cheap i can buy and install myself? any advice is greatly appreciated!

You could always just cut out the resonator, and replace it with straight pipe... However, If you're interested in making it sound a little throatier, I'd suggest upping your pipe diameter at the same time. Shouldn't cost more than about 120$ at a local exhaust shop (Meineke, etc..) Be careful going too large, however, because you could lose valuable back pressure. 2.25'' is the largest I'd go.

I personally think the stock exhaust sounds great. It's a German luxury car after all... not a rice rocket. =) Love thy Audi!
