Default A/C Rattle

I started getting a rumbling rattle about a week ago when the A/C is running. When I looked under the hood and had my wife turn the air on and off to isolate it it sounds like it is coming from the fan behin the radiator on the passenger side. I can't gain enough access to really inspect it. Also a couple weeks ago when I started the car there was a strange noise for 3-4 seconds like something got caught in a fan but something not too solid, if that makes sence. Lastly the rattle is not completely uniform but has a kind of worble to it. Any ideas or sugestions to troubleshoot would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

Sure, stick a screw driver in the fan and stop that turd. If the noise stops, viola!
Those fans do go bad after a while though, and it only does it with the A/C on right?

Yes, only with the a/c on. How hard would it befor me to pull it out? Or any idea what it would cost to replace? Any harm running it other than the annoying rattle? Thanks much!

Its not that hard to change it out, just takes a bit of time. You need to pull the front bumper off, then pull the lock carrier forward in what we call "service position" so you can get access to the fan. Nothing major would happen if you didn't replace it, the only side affect besides an annoying noise is decreased performance from your A/C system.
In other words, the air charge won't be as cold inside the cabin because the fan isn't pulling in air through the condenser to cool it down.

Good info, thank you. Any idea what a dealer would charge to replace?

Too much, probably $200 for the fan and $400 for labor. Thats rediculous in my opinion.
You can find the fan online for around $100, and have a euro shop install it for about $200.
