Default Caliper/ Disks Loose

Hi There

Slightly worrying question . My left front wheel was making an awful rattling sound for last few weeks . I figured out that it was the retention spring on the brake pad , was bent out of shape and was not working at all. I bent it to some degree, back into what I think it should look like and it has fixed the issue for now but I will source new springs.

More worringly , when I removed the front wheel , I noticed that I can move/rock the entire disk AND calipers . They appear to *come away* from the axle. Now when the wheel is bolted back on , this doesnt happen but , surely this is not right ?

I am assuming that whatever *mechanic* was working on the car last , left out some vital retaining bolts for the brake disks and calipers ?

Any advice would be appreciated .

Regards
Martin

I would check the 2, 21mm bolts behind the calipers that hold it together, hope this helps.

Hi

Thanks . I think its more the brake disk that comes away rather than the caliper on its own . The Caliper just moves *with* the disk but not independently ....

Will check again tomorrow .

Thanks
Martin
