hi,
this has happened 3 times over the past month,
i'm driving along at a steady speed and just as i start to slow down the car engine/power completely cuts out i.e no power steering nothing,
i've had to quickly turn off and back on again and it carry's on going along fine,
we use the car alot and its only been 3 times??,
today it happened as i was just starting to turn left and and the power steering went,
any ideas on a solution/problem,
i have an audi a4 avant 2003 it has done 103k,

check ur coilpack wires. If they are deterioating it will cause a short. But i think when this happens normally a fuse goes. Check the wires first and check back here if thats not it.

 

I was experiencing similar issues and it was my crank position sensor. However, it was always followed with a CEL and EPC light coming on. Codes I always got were P03221 and P0322.

 

^^^ thats what i was going to say. really easy to fix. theres a DIY somewhere, but you can do it from the top of the bay.
