car sounds like a vacuum cleaner on cold start + P0411
when the rpm 1200 it makes noise...then drops off to normal then noise goes off......any ideas DIY info or pictures of what causing this?

 

vac hose just search there are a ton of DIYs on hose replacements

 

Sound coming from the front passenger side of the car?

As the car gets older the Secondary Air pump will come on more often during cold idle.

 

That sounds seems pretty damn normal to me, when I first bought mine in March that noise and the RPM was driving me nuts. Spent over $500 to find out what was wrong with the car and came back as NORMAL. I think it's just the nature of the 1.8T A4's. It hasn't thrown me any codes with the noise so I'm guessing that the code is not really related to the noise it makes.

 

BTW mine makes the noise through the summer when it's like 30 degrees celcius too.

 

but its throwing that code though...and CEL is on so what is going on...maybe a fuse i heard?

 

like the guy on the top said... it might be a vac hose, but it's most likely not related to the noise it's making.
