Default Car Turns Over Fine But Won't Start

I need some serious help!!! I own a stock 2002 Audi A4 Quattro. No mods totally stock. This is how my story goes...... I was driving and my car ran hot so I stopped driving the vehicle immediately and called a tow truck to pull it home. I replaced my thermostat thinking it was my problem and when I refilled my coolant overflow bottle I observed that it had a hole mysteriously burned on the side which is next to the firewall. I replaced the overflow bottle and checked the wires between the firewall and overflow bottle and none were burned or charred. Very mysterious!!! Anyway, I flushed the cooling system checking for oil residue and refilled with the recommended antifreeze and took the vehicle for a test drive and it drove fine. As an extra precaution when I returned home I checked the oil to see if it had coolant in it and to my suprise it appeared to be sludgelike. I drained the oil to do an oil change and the oil appeared pasty and I assume it was cooked when the engine overheated. I flushed the engine to remove the sludge and refilled with fresh oil. I started the car and it drove fine for about a 5 miles and the engine temp issue was resolved then it started to sound like a diesel engine and then it died. The engine turned over but wouldnt start anymore. I checked the engine codes and they returned to me a P0441-evap cntrl system purge flow fault, P0117 Engine Coolant temp ckt low input, P0015-Cam Position Actuator B Bank 1 Timing over retard, and finally P0021 Cam Position Actuator A Bank 2 Timing over Advance. Also my engine diagnosis tool had two additional "PENDING" codes stored which were P0024 "B" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance Bank 2 and P0013 IAT Sensor 1 Ckt high. Please Help!!!

Cracked head, head gasket, or block. Pasty oil was the tell. The water overflow bottle has a hole in it due to the water temp when it was running hot.
You won't always get water in the oil and oil in the water. And, the problem can seem to disappear until the engine gets warmed up again and the crack expands.
It's bucking most likely because either the fluid is entering a cylinder and compromising the fuel ignition OR the pistons are getting out of round due to lack of lubrication and heat.
If you've never done a rebuild on any car, you can get a Chilton's and a Motor manual (do they make them for Audi?); both of which usually forget to tell you something about the tear-down, like bolt positions - but used together can usually get you through it; and remove the head. You may/may not be able to see the crack in the head; same with the gasket. Replace the gasket anyway, and take the head to a local motor shop to have it fluxed. If it's no good - replace it.

Good luck. You'll save yourself labor cost by doing it yourself, but you won't get a warranty on the work. And if you don't have insurance that will cover it (they usually don't), it can get pricey.

Is your crankshaft sensor, replace it and try again.

And just how can a faulty crankshaft sensor cause water to get into the oil?

I will try replacing the camshaft sensors. I priced them at autozone for about $32 bucks a piece. I am thinking I need two of them. I appreciate the help guys. If anyone else has advice feel free to help. But I promise I will let you guys know what worked if I get started again. Thanks so much guys

The sludge like liquid on his oil, is probably sludge, you need to do a Seafoam treatment to burn all that. The crankshaft sensor is only one, and is about 90 bucks, that's what causes the engines to turn oveer without starting.

If that sludgy oil is milky in color, it's water in the oil, and continued attempts to start it without correcting the problem (cracked head, head gasket, or block) will further damage your engine.

If you are not sure, take a sample to a mechanic or AutoZone or Checker and let them verify it.

No reason to spend 64 bucks on sensors if you don't have to.

And there are other reasons that an engine will turn over but not start.
No fuel. No air. No spark. No compression. No Bendix engagement. Broken geartooth on the flywheel. Timing chain covering damaged or timing chain slipped a tooth. And that's just a start that doesn't involve sensors or money to check.
