Default CD's stuck in stereo...

My wife did something to my Symphony 2 in my 2002 A4 Audi. I couldn't get CD's in or out and I was getting an Error 3 code. Called the Audi dealer and he said that I'd have to pay $375 for a refurbished stereo to be installed and they would send mine in to the refurbishment shop and they could extract the CD's.

In the meantime I found a brand new Symphony 2 on Ebay for $169. Just installed it in about 10 minutes, but I'm wondering if anyone knows how to get the CD's out of the old stereo.

Thanks.

had to do this to an old car stereo, I ended up just removing every screw I could until I could get the disks out, of course it ruined the stereo but I expected that, not an audi stereo, an aftermarket

Not to state the obvious, but did you disconnect the connector to the old radio and plug it back in? That should perform a 30 power reset and will most likely spit out the CD's.

i had a cd that got stuck in one of the slots. it kept trying to load/eject the disc and it gave up after a while. a good knee to the side of the console helped it to spit the disc out.turned out that it was a burned disc that wasnt cooperating with the cd changer for what ever reason.

I just ran into this issue on my 2002 A4 with Symphony. After reading a number of posts on this board and others, I followed the below steps which solved the issue:

1. I pulled the fuse for the radio (#39), but just for a few seconds. I could not find my radio code, and I did not want to get locked out.
2. Reinserted fuse and turned ignition key.
3. Banged on the side of the console beside the CD player (sounds ridiculous, but I read about it elsewhere and it worked).
4. Turned radio on and continued banging on the side of the console.
5. Switched over to CD mode, and everything worked fine.

Hope this helps others - pretty stressful thing to have happen, and way too minor to justify an expensive dealership trip (where they would likely replace the radio).
