Default Chipping is lame!

ok, I was just messing with that subject title. I plan on getting an Audi A4 2004-2005 ultrasport in the next couple months. I was thinking about getting the 3.0l because I plan on not doing any mods to the vehicles engine. But most people on here seem to say get the 1.8turbo so you can mod it out. shouldnt i just go with the 3.0l ultrasp because it has about 40hp over the 1.8t. then my buddy was just telling me to add a chip and exhust to the 1.8t and you'll be saving gas with about the same amount of hp's as the 3.0l. ok, so i guess ill chip.... but can I chip a 3.0l???? that would then bring up the engine to 240hp with exhuast, yet id use a little more gas then the 1.8t.

Main questions: can I chip the 3.0l as well? and wouldnt a chipped 3.0l have more hp and be faster then a 1.8t that's chipped?

IS 27,XXX$ for a 2004 with 32K miles A4 3.0l a good price from a dealership on the westcoast in san diego. It's an ULTRASPORT!
I swear i could find a better deal on ebay... and 27$ could get me the S4.

I think thats a little on the high side for a 2004 Ultrasport considering the 1.8T Quattro with Sport package can be bought with similar mileage for around 16,000 - 18,000 and a 3.0 for around 20,000. Thats East coast prices, though.

When you "chip" a 3.0, you're really doing nothing more than maybe advancing some timing (among other small adjustments). Sincethe 3.0does not have a turbo, a chip on it doesn't really have the same opportunities to increase HP drasticaly likeit can on the 1.8t.
With a chip on the 1.8t,the chipis mapping a lot more options that make a difference, most notablyboost pressure.
The only way to get valid and noticable increases on the 3.0 in proportion to what can be done with the 1.8t is to get a supercharger.
The 3.0 is a great engine for a grocery getter or someone who has no interest in modding. It is smooth and provides good torque for the daily driver. If you ever want a truly fast car down the line with the 3.0, you're kind of stuck at this time to go with the supercharger.
On the 1.8t, you can make your car faster in increments based on money available, leading up to some heavy duty and expensive mods down the line.

since the 3.0 is naturally aspirated, chipping will do little for it, if you get a 1+ flash from giac or apr along with bigger injectors (can be found used for $250 or new $350) in conjunction with exhaust and a bigger intercooler, you will be walking 3.0's all day long... i have a fully supported 1+ program and i have raced several 3.0s from a dig and on the interstate and i can leave them so fast its sad.....

also to note is a 3.0 costs much more in repairs like timing belt and the cats are known to fail on them as well

i have an ultrasport, it includes rims, door blades, front bumper/spoiler (busta added his) and rear bumper with lip spoiler. buy a USP from the beginning its much easier

you need to build supporting mods first
brakes, clutch, front mount intercooler (FMIC), exhaust, suspensionetc

i have APR flash with bigger injectors (APR 1+) not bad for the money, busta has stage 3+ which is a complete big turbo kit making about 350-400chp whereas im making bout 250chp

looking back, i would just do supporting mods then buy the BT kit, dont waste time and money on half assing it, it just leaves you wanting more
