Default Coolent Leak

I noticed when changing my oil that i had a small puddle of coolent on the ground it is coming from the left side of the engine in the front by the bumper. It only comes out after being runned and since i take the train allot i did not notice it right away. Any thoughts as to what it could be? Is it my understanding that the drain plug is on the side of the intercooler?

ur intercooler is on the right side of the car near the front bumper. U have either dings ur radiator orrr u have the dreader coolant flange. i assume u have a 1.8t and if u do check the rear area of ur engine near the firewall and look down. if it is the coolant flange there will be sum **** there thats gunky and it will start to smoke eventually if u continue running it like that.

Yeah it is the 1.8T 2004

I just ran the car for about 20 min and noticed from the driver seat that there is just a small amount of smoke coming up from the right side of the car. I assume that the **** is built up down near the bottom and is burning off. Again i dont drive it much so the problem was not noticed. Any fix besides replacement? otherwise i do believe my extended warrenty covers this part and they will pay for it. Is this a common problem? any other thoughts would be helpful.

P.S Thanks for the info!

Do you know where i can get a cheap radaitor pressure testor? I saw some online that were manual pump models. What should the pressure be while the system is running?

i think the only way is to replace the flange. It is a common mishap amoung audi i think there might even be a recall on it.
