One of my flex pipes on my 2003 A4 1.8 T is rotting and needs to be replaced. What is a ballpark price for replacement (would be at dealership or mechanic, not a self repair)? Also, besides the audible issues of the rotted pipe, is this a repair that can wait or should just be done now?

Well I have found it but I wasnt sure if you can buy just the flex portion or if you have to buy the down pipe. My car is an 03 a4 1.8 automatic

 

Found these over at ECS. looks like you just cut out the section of flex and weld/clamp in the new section. I would get the longer one, you can always make it shorter.

Yep.. any will do as long as its the same pipe diameter. If you cant weld thin pipe, you can get 2 slip on adaptors and 4 u-bolt pipe clamps (cheap and ugly), OR 2 'band clamps' like this: http://estore.websitepros.com/802805...ust/Detail.bok
