I have a 2004 A4 3.0L Avant.

Weirdest thing yesterday, I got into my car, and put the key in the ignition and the car starts beeping like crazy (and all the 4 way flashers are blinking). Sound was coming from the rear, and I started the car figuring it might go away, but nothing. I drove down the street a little bit then got out in a parking lot and walked to the back of the car, the beeping seemed to be coming from the trunk area. I lifted the trunk/hatch and the beeping stopped, closed it and that was the end of the beeping.

Anyone have this experience or know what caused that all of a random sudden?

 

It should be the alarm horn which might have got triggered due to wiring short.

 

Hmm...come to think of it, i don't even know what the alarm sounds like. If that's the alarm, it's a pretty lame alarm, it woudln't scare me off, it was just a constant beep (like when you lock the car it has a nice clean low-key "beep").

Well opening and closing the trunk fix it. Not sure why it would all of a sudden happen like that...
