yesterday i was driving my car on the freeway. i was doing about 75 going on a curve. then all the sudden my break light comes on and beeps a few times and just keeps flashing. and im talking about the hand break light that says "break". this has never happened to me before and i looked through the Manuel and could not find anything. it went off as i slowed down on the off ramp. has this happened to anyone else and what could it mean?

You have a light that says "break"? Must be custom! And who is this manuel that let you look through him?? Lol

That light flashes when your brake fluid is low. It could be low due to worn pads requiring more fluid in the lines.

First thing I read today. Good advice + good humor = . I agree its likely your brake fluid level is low. Remember our cars use DOT 4 Brake Fluid.

Oddly enough no. For some reason Audi decided not to create a special formula brake fluid that costs 2-3 times what the standard brands cost. Weird, I know. You can get DOT 4 at any auto parts supplier.

Now it's "beak" fluid... haha, you're making this too easy on us.
Brake.

You do not have to go to the dealer for brake fluid. Any Dot 4 fluid will work. Adding it yourself is a breeze.
Couple of points:
-brake fluid will eat through paint. Don't go spilling it on your fender.
-keep an eye on your fluid. If you get that light on again soon, you've got a leak.
-if the light stays out, it was likely from pad wear. If you ever do your own brakes in the future, make sure to loosen the cap on the brake fluid reservoir when you're pushing the pistons back, as it might overflow.

I think the theory about worn brake pads contributing to this is pretty good (in addtion to maybe needing brake fluid). I know for sure I need to replace my brake pads, and my e-brake light has randomly popped on in the past week.

BTW I'm new to the sight, and Im actually looking for some general info on brake pad installation ie suggested brands, tips for instillation. Can I find this info already existing on the site, or should a bust a new post?

Thanks!
