Hey guys, im relatively new to this whole audi scene and i just found out that my audi has a cvt tranny. It has 108k miles on it and i don't know the maintenance that was given to it before i bought it. I was wondering, what can i do to ensure that my tranny lasts quite a while. Because i don't want to drop 3 grand on a fix or a new transmission
drive it like a grandma! its all hit or miss with cvt. I have a cvt and have never once had a problem with it except for the first week i purchased. I shuddered sometimes but i think it was due to a vaccume leak! Im up on 160,000!
No, the dial is as good as new, the only thing that kinda bothers me is the reverse, it kinda holds down, i have to give some gas so that it moves. And on a side unrelated note, where can i find good but "cheap" motor mounts?

Have your car scanned by an independent Audi/VW shop. if your experiencing any problems, that's the way to go. I hope your experience with the CVT will be a good one. I suggest you change the transmission fluid and change it every 60,000km after that fluid change.
I asked my independent Audi/VW shop about doing a transmission fluid change on my A4 B6 1.8T CVT and he told me that he would just be wasting my money because it would only change about 1/3 of the fluid ($400). To do a complete change they would have to take the trans completely apart (a lot more $) since it is suppose to be a "lifetime" fluid.
Any thoughts or input from you guys? Thanks!

Brother, no such thing as "lifetime fluid". "Lifetime" is the life of the new car warranty, than your on your own. Let me ask you this, when this CVT fails, would Audi warranty it ? Never !
The CVT transmission is known to be a flawed transmission but heard with regular transmission fluid changes you can progress the life. I would recommend that you find another place to do it or if the car is running fine, SELL IT, and buy a Quattro 5 speed automatic.
You will be much better much better off. If this CVT tranny goes then you just have a parts car on your hands !

I did it myself for less than $100
I purchased a 22mm plug on ebay for $5 (GP 1/4" male; 22mm x 1.5 male Coupler Plug)
I purchased a one gallon lawn sprayer @ lowes for $10 & connected it to ebay plug
optionally I added a tire valve to the lawn sprayer to pressurize it with compressed air
I purchased 5 quarts of genuine audi CVT oil on ebay for $55 + $15 shipping (still listed on ebay listed as - 5 Quarts of CVT Automatic Transmission Fluid G 052 180 A2 CVT
I already had the security bit socket to drain the old fluid.
I pumped in 5 quarts and warmed up the transmission (Level on Jack stands)
about 1/2 quart drained out once the trans fluid reached 45 Degrees centigrade (used Vag-Com ) to meassure trans temp (basically had to run engine for 5 minutes on jack stand to reach 45 degrees.
