Double checking...
I came out of a store today and started my 2004 A4 1.8T
By the time I had backed out of the parking spot, the engine started chugging and then died. No CEL. I started it again and right away chugging for a few seconds and then dead. Again, no CEL. My first thoughts were a coil pack or MAF. I had a spare coil pack in the truck, but i wanted to try the easiest thing first. I unplugged the MAF and started the car. It idled fine and I could drive the 2 miles home, although I had very little power.
This means the MAF is bad, correct? Should I have gotten a CEL? Even after driving home with the MAF unplugged, there was no CEL.
Thanks.
