I searched but couldn't find any thing relavent.

Our '02 A4 3.0 had an on/off issue with eratic idle. Idle would bounce but rarely, maybe 2-3 times per month and seemed to be weather dependent.

Now its hard to start, takes 2-3 tries but drives fine.

Replaced the coolant temp sensor when I first bought it.

Wife is going to stop and have the codes scanned for some reason my VAGCOM will not talk to her A4 but works fine with my A6.

No SES/CEL but I do know the secondary O2's are shot but the primaries are fine.

 

just get it scanned somehow, that would make it much easier.
could have something to do with a fueling system

 

Scan came up empty, no codes.

Nothing wrong with the fuel system. Changed the filter and checked the pressure.

 

Found my problem.

Engine speed sensor reporting no signal. Went to look at the connector below the coolant bottle and it had crumbled.

Connector is in 2 pieces but the car still runs...kind of

Have to see if I can rig it until I get a new connector.
