Default ESP and gas mileage

Hey Everyone,

I've tried to find some info on this by searching around and can't find much.

I was told by a friend that turning off the ESP when I don't need it will improve my gas mileage. I tried this and it seemed to add 1 or 2 mpg's (using the cars computer calculations) to my daily drive. Does anyone have any idea on why this would happen?

Thanks,
zach

do you even know what esp is or does? esp is for stability and traction control. say for instance you take a turn too fast and it starts to slide. the esp receives data from the yaw sensor and wheel sensors to monitor slip. when the computer determines which way the car is sliding, it will apply braking or reduce power to individual wheels to help keep the car going in its intended direction.

if your driving normal esp is doing nothing except monitoring. for everyday use you should keep it on.
