Flashing headlights ??

Flashing headlights ??
Hi all, I'm new to Audi's ... just bought my first 2002 A4 1.9 DTI (130 bhp).
I have noticed that when I first put the headligts on they seem to intermittently flash. After a while they seem to settle down although I've not driven long enough at night to confirm the settling down yet.
Any idea's what could be causing this? I can't see anything obvious like lose connections etc.
