Default Front End Clunk on Corner

Hi all,

2003 Audi A4 Sport B6 2.4L

I occasionally get a loud single clunk somewhere in the front end when throwing it around corners. It doesn't seem to be dependent on steering angle, as it will clunk at low/moderate speed on a tight corner and moderate/fast speed on a less tight corner - seems to be related more to the sideways force.

- Loud dull clunk felt through floor a little but mostly heard, doesn't appear to be specifically from either corner.
- Clunks once only.
- Clunk both left hand and right hand turns
- Does not clunk on speedbumps, potholes, sudden acceleration or braking etc

We've put the car in the air and checked all suspension: all bushes return and look good, just a bit old, no witness marks and the wheels don't have any excessive play when you move them.
Steering is a bit indirect but not unbefitting of its condition. Needs a new steering pump but I don't think this is related.

Theory 1: Engine mount? It had a misfire about a year ago, and the engine shaking more than normal would cause it to physically knock occasionally against something in the engine bay. Suspected slightly knackered engine mount but it was fine once the misfire was fixed. There doesn't seem to be any more engine vibration to the cabin though.

Theory 2: Steering rack bolt loose? not sure, but fairly easy to check/tighten so doing that this weekend.

Does anyone have any other theories of anything I can check? On paper it looks to be suspension related but I can't find any physical evidence on inspection of the car. I would also expect it to knock on some condition other than cornering.

Thanks for reading.
