Default Fuel Trim

Hi All,

My Audi A4 B6 2002-2003 (70,000 miles) has a Check engine light on.

I used PCMSCAN to get the OB2 code and it says the fuel trim is too low. If I clear the code, it will come back in about 100 miles.

K, I get that this could be a problem with the MAF or a vacume leak.

I got some MAF cleaner and sprayed the hell out of it. (If this does not work, I will look for vacume leaks)

Now, do I need to clear the CEL and then wait to see if the light comes back on? OR do I not clear it and wait to see if it goes off?

Any help is appriciated! (It drives me crazy...)

Cheers

Piper

Need to clear the code each time since clearing the codes also resets the fuel trim adjustments.

Default Fuel trim resolved

Thanks for the info which probably would have worked too, however, I left the code on and it cleared itself after about 40 miles or 4 trips.

I strongly advise anybody with a fuel trim problem to buy a can of MAF cleaner (About $3) and spray the hell out of the MAF - leave to dry before starting.

I'm so pleased that this was a $3 fix instead of hundreds!

Thak you forum (Learnt the info from searching) - made my day!

Cheers

Piper
