Question Got a CEL and ESP light on, please help

Hi please help me figure this out.

I have a CEL light on and ESP indicator light on my dashboard after starting the car the other day. I drove home with it and when i turned the car on the next day the rpm jumped to 3000 from the start and then it dropped causing the car to die out. after 2 more times of trying it did same thing went up to about 3000 rpm then dies. The next day i turned on the car and as it was about to die out i gave it little gas, it sort of recovered and stayed on about 800 rpm mode like normal. (The weather condition were bad, kinda raining all day)

Now i did Code check and it indicates that there is P0102 which is MAF or VAF A circuit Low input.. now before i went ahead and changed the MAF sensor i decided to run the tests of disconnecting the MAF sensor to see if it runs differently, no change at all the car runs fine with the sensor on or off.

*note, the brake light beeps about 2 times indicating as if my e-brake is up while im driving (this makes me think that esp is somewhat related to the brake sensor or wheel speed sensor)

so i went ahead and cleaned the CEL (P0102 code) and left the MAF sensor disconnected, on drive hom the ESP light came on but not the CEL sooooo....

I am focusing on tackling this issue one at a time, since ESP is on now i have to figure out what it can be from maybe brake sensor? wheel speed sensor? any ideas? when i press the ESP button nothing turns off its constantly on.

Then after figuring out how to get rid of the ESP im going to plug the MAF sensor back on and see if the CEL comes on if so then the next step is to fix the MAF sensor issue

Do you think MAF sensor has anything to do with ESP going off? can they be related?

PLEASE HELP ME FIGURE THIS OUT, I KNOW I WROTE A LOT BUT I JUSTED TO LIST EVERYTHING GOING ON

THANKS 2003 audi a4 1.8t

your ESP will go off when your MAF fails.

The MAF is a load sensor. ESP and the transmission use its data for their function as well.

If you have a fault for the MAF, the only thing you can do is check for blockage at the filter, a loose hose on the intake system. If everything checks out your only option is to replace it

I had this exact issue last week. Started the car one morning, ESP light was on and wouldn't toggle on and off with the switch. drove it, parked, restarted it, CEL came on sending error code 0102 MAF sensor voltage low or not present. After clearing codes, error reoccured in same fashion, first ESP, then CEL. Tried cleaning the MAF sensor after disconnecting it and noticing no change. Cleaning didn't work. Installed a new sensor (got a bosch on partsgeek for cheap,) codes went away immediately, ESP light back to normal function. Just figured i'd add my story to this discussion in case it could help anyone. thanks guys, and good luck!
