Default Greetings! and a request for help

After looking at several cars from other German makers, I am seriously considering an Audi - never thought I would but I was hooked on the drive. What I have in mind is an A4 (hence posting in this section of the forum), 1.8t, quattro, with 75000 miles on it. The dealer (an Audi dealer) has changed the water pump, new tires, replaced both sets of breaks and rotors, and replaced the timing chain. He is asking $12,400. It does seem a little sluggish until the turbo kicks in but it is plenty fast for me. It is the quattro model but it does not snow here of any significance. Is this a respectable deal? more important, what do I need to be wary of with this model? It seems as if user reviews are either a) this is the greatest car in the world or b) this is a piece of junk and is always in the shop.

other questions: do you put premium gas in yours? and is the mileage at least decent? 20 or so?

this is a step up regardless - I am driving a 1993 300E with 200,000K.

Thanks! I'll report back when/if I pick it up. It is a nice looking car, black with a tan interior; nicer looking than the millions of silver 3-series from another german maker that I see all over the place (which is as much of a reason for not buying one as any that I have)

The quattro the only Audi out there, the Front wheel drive has a lot of issues. The price seems decent for an Audi dealer, a little overpriced if you buy anywhere else as our cars are valued around 10K. The gas mileage, I cannot count for the 1.8 but my 3.0 gives me 24MPG average. Common probs you'll get missfires caused by coilpacks, vacuum leaks, and if is automatic you'll have the switch problems eventually. But all this is regular maintenance. The A4s are expensive to maintain.
