Question Heat Sheild

my heat sheild has gotten smaller and i need to purchase a new one so i dont mess up my hood.......what would be the better way to go either get one from a dealership or just get an after market one and install it myself??????

The one that covers underneath the car?

i think that serves more as a sound deadener than a heat shield. how did it get smaller though?

it gets smaller when it gets hot every time you drive the car

wait, what shield are u talking bout? Usually, the heatshield is the small piece (stock) between your cats and airbox.

he's talking about the fabric under the hood itself i suppose... i dont see how much smaller it could've gotten. i've never seen one shrink to the point where you need to replace it.

The belly pan cover? That's what i thought too, but it doesnt get hot.

He might have a one under the good to keep the heat down into the engine bay. Usually it made out of fiber insulation.
