Default Help!! Crank position sensor

Found the CPS and replaced but was wondering what the empty sensor spot is for and what the void is if anyone has thoughts.
Thanks,
Nathan
So I continually was getting the P0322 and sometimes the P0321 error and my car would all of a sudden die while driving down the road. It would start up after a couple of tries with the EPC and CEL light both on. After researching many forum on the subject I concluded that it was probably my crank position sensor. Received the part in and was in the process when I encountered some strange things. The location that I assume is the CPS is empty and I can not find any harness that it would plug into. I am not sure if this is related but there is also another void in my engine compartment in front of the brake distribution block (not sure if related or what/if anything goes there. If anyone can offer any help or insight I would be much appreciated. It is a 2004 A4 1.8T Quattro 6spd. I have attached photos of what I am seeing.
Thanks,
Nathan
