Help fast
I was on my way home from Birmingham, AL back to Auburn, AL and my car starts making a funny noise whenever it starts to hit boost...it doesn't boost...it almost makes a "Kazoo" sound. I tried to drive it back home...and one of the ignition coils went out on it. I had to get back home...so I had it towed to the B'ham Audi dealer and went home with my friend. I told the service manager what I thought was wrong and they said they'd get on it and call me back. Yesterday I get a call from Audi dealer in B'ham saying my TURBO HAS GONE BAD! To fix the car will be $2,400. I honestly don't know if they are telling the truth or not. I do not live in B'ham...I live in Auburn, so there literally is nothing I can do. If anyone has experienced this before, please help me out. I figured it was just a diverter valve that went bad. Thanks.

Did that sound like a dentist's drill??? Then maybe your turbo really gone bad.
Also, that might be a HUGE boost leak, or one of the hoses got disconnected.
I dont think $2,400 is fair for the turbo change. Id find an independent mechanic somehow.

RE: Help fast
^^^ 1+ first mistake was taking it to the dealer. Unless you got loot to spare never take it to the dealer. Find an independent mechanic that can test it and figure out another problem. If it is a turbo it def. shouldn't cost u $2,400

RE: Help fast
damn, you can do a full BT kit for about $3600 - supporting mods.. GTRS would be even cheaper!
sounds to me like a boost leak.. unless you are hearing a dentist drill type sound, your turbo more than likely isnt bad

RE: Help fast
If your not into tuning your car you can get an upgraded K04 turbo to replace your K03 for around $900 from lots of places like www.ecstuning.com and other distributers, then have a shop put it in for around $400 or put it in yourself.
