Help me with my wipers please!
Hi all,
So I have a 2005 Audi a4 and this past Sunday I noticed that the wipers were moving quite slow when I went to wash my windshield . They had been slow over the course of the week until today. When I went to leave for work at 5:30am. this morning, I turned the wiper blades on (slight drizzle) and the wiper arm went up but not down. It stopped at the top of the arch. After a few second it went down a few inches and then stopped again. This repeated itself until it reached the parked position. As I drove longer and the rain got a little heavier, I would put the wiper blades on and the same this would occur, but sometimes they would work smoother (i.e. they would go a little farther before stopping or move slightly faster). I thought it was the motor at first, but after reading some information, I am thinking it could be the linkage. Both parts are pretty expensive and I haven't been able to look at the wiper components since I am at work. Could someone help me by narrowing what I should look for and maybe how to fix it? I want to try and do this myself instead of having the mechanic charge me for 2 hours of work.
Any input is greatly appreciated!
