Timing belt
I do realize that now that i have done my research. I was going off of what the previous owner said when giving me the paperwork regarding the class action. So the belt and tentioner was inspected at 64,000 and the car now has 80,000. What would you suggest i do to avoid the headache before it happens? Get that kit? I can't believe i need to wait for the belt to break, then cause engine damage. that is just crazy. So the kit is just over $100 and labor is a grand.. great.

The 1.8T kit with everything you need (and moar) is probably closer to $200-$225. The actual belt change itself isn't what kills you on the labor, its the taking the car apart to get to the belts. Not necessarily difficult, just majorly time consuming.
a good indy shop will probably charge in the $800 range for parts and labor, give or take
