Default Help Please ... 1.8T Coolant Leak Right Side (Passenger Side)

Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to figure out where coolant is leaking from on my 2004 A4 1.8T FWD.

I thought it was the coolant flange, so I had that replaced, but the leak continues.

Coolant is leaking somewhere along the right side (passenger side near turbo & exhaust). It leaks slowly (it takes about a month for the coolant level to drop below the MIN mark on the overflow tank).

I can see buildup of cooked coolant at the back right side of the engine.

What, other than the coolant flange, could be causing this leak? Is there a sensor on that side of the engine, or maybe the coolant line for the turbo?

Thanks,
Chris

Its either the flange or the turbo. Given the location of the dried up coolant it has to be the flange. Who replaced it? Its VERY easy to pinch the O-ring from the flange to cylinder head upon installation (i've done this more than once) and it could still be leaking from that area.

I had the dealer replace the coolant flange, so maybe the turbo I guess. I'm going to do the "SAI Delete" on my car, so, hopefully that'll give me enough room to look around down there and see what's going on.

Thought I'd update everyone now that I got this fixed.

The smoke turned out to be caused by the Cam Tensioner half moon seal. I replaced this myself using the great DIY at http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...et-replacement

This leaking seal was causing oil to drip down onto the CAT causing the smoke.

I best deal I found on the gasket set was at BlauParts.com and they rent you the Cam Tensioner compressor tool for $10.

Thanks for everyone's help on this.

Chris
