Help removing the alarm siren in Avant
So I've searched using every keyword I can think of with limited success.
I have found the thread on a TT forum in the UK, which is mostly helpful however there are a few subtle differences involving the Avant I was hoping to get help with before I started.
As I understand it, the alarm siren is located under the rear passenger subwoofer correct? Meaning I need to remove the rear liner. I know I can remove the smaller torx screws, but what size are needed to remove the heavy anchor points that seem to hold down the rest of the liner?
Also, any tips for not destroying the myriad of clips I'm sure to find when I delve into the deeper parts of this project?
Tips for removing the rear liner/molding/ subwoofer/ trim without destroying it would be appreciated as well.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I mainly want to make sure I have the appropriately sized tools when I start, as I hate having to halt progress only to find I don't have that one item I need.
I only ask because I cannot find much information on the Avant itself and it is a bit daunting.
For specifics if it might make a difference:
2003 Audi Avant
3.0l quattro
Bose symphony with navigation
Dark Blue

I got it out and it actually isn't that terrible. The hardest part is removing the side panel, as I was afraid I was going to break the panel. After cutting my siren, I noticed some corrosion on the circuit board. I will clean it up and see how it works.
I also took pics for those that might want to try as well... however they will come later.

I wonder if my alarm works or is it broke, the only thing that i see is the lights flashing when you lock the doors. My neighbor has an TT and his alarm beeps every time he locks and opens the door but mine does not do anything. Is it suppose to do this do you know ?
1. The rechargeable batteries in your siren/horn are bad or dying (hence the odd beeps when locking the doors). Mine were leaking and corroding the circuit board. I cleaned it up and am trying to get some replacement batteries to see if that solves my problem.
2. The Central Control Unit (or something like that) is bad and it either doesn't lock appropriately or doesn't signal the horn/siren unit appropriately.
The third thing it could be might be a short in one of the door sensors.
Since I don't have access to a vagcom to diagnose my problem I went with the one thing I knew I could do and see some possible results. Knowing my luck it is probably both the siren and the CCU.
Someone please feel free to correct my terminology or directions as I'm new to all these super electronic options on vehicles...

He did a fantastic write up... however he is working with a TT. My Avant has a few more hurdles to leap (amp/sub, hatch lining, etc...).
I am going to check the car out tomorrow i found out that the siren is located on the trunk on the right side.
I kinda been doing a little research too about the alarm, and isee that are 3 wires. Do you think if you add an after market siren would work ?
