Default Honest Opinions on the 02 A4 3.0L

Well I am dead set on purchasing a inexpensive Audi A4. I found a black on black 2002 A4 3.0 V6 Quattro with the 6spd. This one has 89k miles and feels awesome. This car is immaculate and I believe has all the options.

My questions are simple. Are they reliable? What are the things to look for with one @ 89k in relation to maintenace?

This car will be my daily driver, not much modding involved at all. Possibly a meaner exhaust note and chip.

Thanks in advance,

~Tereance

Looks good. The 3.0 is a great solid engine. Some glitches would be: cats go bad (get some mean sounding straight downpipes) also the TB is a b***h but that's regular maintainence on all Audi's. Besides that they're good daily drivers. How much?

I got the dealer down to $10,800. After fees it was $12,050. There is a 1yr warranty available for $1000, but I am not sure if it is worth it. I am not sure how many miles I will put on it. I drive 3 miles to work on way!

check to see if the timing belt was done, if not your gonna want to do that asap. the audi six's are awesome engines and tend to be very reliable. Good luck!

i know with the 02 and 03 model year they had some problems with the engine because it was new and audi needed to work the bugs out of it. for the 04 and 05 models they figured out the problems that they had with the earlier models and corrected them. like with any new platform, the first couple years are trial end error years because the only real way to see whats good or bad is to sell them, get some miles on them, and see what breaks. im not saying dont buy it, if it has had pm work done and is up to date, then go for it.

What are the common issues/problems that you speak of? I am going to get it looked over before I go back to the dealer and write a check. I have had it since Friday and so far I love the feel of the car!
