Just got a 2004 A4, got some q's
Hey,
First - I hope this isn't a re-post, I searched around... (if anyone has any searching tips I would apprecaite it)
Second - I just purchased a 2004 A4 1.8T q Tip w/62,000 miles; I had previously had a 1998 2.8 q 5M. My question is (besides a oil change with synthetic) what, as far as preventive maintenance should I take care of with the car. I bought the car from a used car lot and although it was a 1 owner car, it was purchased at auction and of course no service records, Thanks

besides fluids, take it to a shop that you trust and have them check out the suspension, uhmm the timing belt, tensionerand water pump are good for another 20-25,000 miles.... im not sure about the spark plugs and coils, i was actually going to ask when everyone suggests changing them. i have the 3.0 motor

Email Audi customer service with your vin, home address and phone. Ask if there are any recalls. There probably aren't but they will call you. Ask for the dealership that originally sold the car. They will give you the contact information. You can then call the service department and ask for the service history. You might get lucky in that the previous owner serviced his car there. Sludge is the big question, it is covered by warranty but you need service history to provetheoil waschanged at the correct interval.
Even so it would probably be a good idea to do an engine cleanup using seafoam or some other sludge cleaner.

I can vouch for that one... I had one go out one rainy night... right after I dropped off the gf... didnt know what it was at first... got to a lit parking lot and realized that it was the coilpack
Changed em all out and now keep the 3 good ones in the trunk. =)

You can find them online like from ecstuning.com of others or from the Dealer.
Because they are of the common problems in our b6 1.8T engines.
