looking to buy a flywheel

Yes, anyone re-surfacing their flywheel is risking taking off years of life on their clutch.
Since the flywheel is made of a soft material (same as our brake discs) if you machine it, it will cause excessive heat to the clutch, glazing the flywheel and smoking the clutch years before it is supposed to go out. The best you can do is just scuff it up with a grinder wheel if it doesn't have too many hot spots on it indicating warpage.
I just scuffed mine up with 120,000 on it with my southbend stg 2 clutch, it did take longer to break in the clutch than usual, but it works just fine now.
