We have a 2003 A4 Cabriolet, nice car! But the boot leaver in the luggage compartment (boot area) where the roof fits into has broken. The leaver operates to the left/right, one way lowers allowing space for the roof to fit into, the other way makes the boot larger, you're unable to lower the roof and a warning appears on the dash until the leaver is operated. So it is always in the down position, I have a piece of timber currently to prop it up, just really to make that extra room in the boot.
When I say the boot leaver is broken, the boot leaver doesn’t operate (lift or lower) the area where the hood fits into, so it is always in the low position. You can still lower the roof but if you want to lift up the space where the hoods fits into (thereby making the boot area larger) that's when I use the piece of timber to prop it up.
I took it to the Audi dealer, $1700 to replace!! They say it has to be a new one, the whole thing has to be replaced! It must be able to be repaired surly? Does anyone know if this is possible? Or any suggestions is greatly appreciated.
