Default My A4 judders/jerks and rpms jumps up and down when below 2000rpm

I have a problem with my Audi A4 2.0 2004 Multitronic. The juddering is felt when taking off and it goes on as long as i am lower than 2000rpm. The rpm also jumps up and down when below 2000rpm. When above 2000rpm the car drives fine and the rpm is stable. Today i went on manual mode and the car drives just fine, it jumps a bit but i think its normal.

Has anyone experienced this type of problem? any ideas, is this a gearbox problem or something else? i have tried many forums but no one has a clear answer. Someone has suggested spark plugs…

Your transmission might be the culprit... you can try anything to rule out the engine but if you don't have any warnings on your dashboard it might not be engine related. Being that you have a FWD those transmissions are known to have a few issues, you can scan it and it should give you a code. Good luck.

I think Im having the same problem, Iv got a 2.5TDi Cab Automatic, When I start it up the whole dash starts to shake and its almost twice as loud as normal. If I rev it the shaking almost stops until the revs drop. There are no warning lights on at all. Could it just need more transmission fluid?

Does it do it when parked.....?

Sounds like a vacuum leak. Vacuum leaks do not always throw a CEL

Yeah I havent actually driven it since I noticed it. Iv turned the engine on, left it in park the car just shakes like mad. Iv been told it's possibly the flywheel. Any ideas?

More trouble now. The juddering is getting worse. The car jerks violently every 5 seconds. As it jerks you can also see the rpm fluctuating. When changing the spark plugs i found some oil in the plugs. What are the effects of oil in the plugs chamber? Apparently a gasket was missing (due to negligence of the previous owner) and the oil was leaking into the spark plugs chamber. Can this be cause of my problem?

Is probably your headgasket. A lot of the turbo guys have this issue. Wouldn't hurt to do a vaccuum check as well but definitely your head gasket.
