New to the forum... oil question
Hi all. My wife and I got our first Audi, and we love it (well, probably more me than her)! Anyways, I have all kinds of questions, but most important is my first oil change. It's an '04 A4 1.8T Quattro UltraSport. I've read a lot about the Mobil 1 filter and even the K&N filter, is either one better? Also, and this may be me being overly cautious, which one is the equivalent of the oversized stock filter (if you have part numbers, that would be awesome)? As far as oil, does anyone here run Amsoil? Otherwise, what are some of the better oils to run? I don't have any engine sludge as far as I can tell, and I want to pamper this thing.
Does anyone have any experience changing out the coolant temp sensor? I've changed mine out, along with the o-ring, and there is a small leak now. I'm going to get another o-ring and a new clip tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone else had the same issue.

Use factory filters or german equivilant like Mann or Mahle www.ecstuning.com
Oil should only be synthetic with a turbo charged engine, Amsoil is excellent, as is royal purple and redline. Mobil1 and castrol synthetic are not far behind.
As for the coolant leak, make sure its actually not leaking from the flange that the CTS sensor is sitting in. The plastic flange bolts to the head and has a large O-ring that commonly leaks.

Do you have a part number for the Fram or Purolator?
I wouldn't use either my parts man can cross ref the numbers of either one of those
to the Wix that I use. He only shows the small filter available for Wix. He is sure he can cross if he has something to go by.

NEVER EVER put a FRAM on your CAR!!!!!!!!!!
FRAM filters and others like it DO NOT HAVE A BYPASS VALVE IN IT.
So if the filter were to ever get clogged your oil pressure would go down to zero, and if your oil pressure is at 0 while driving.............................BOOOOOOM goes your engine. Spend the extra money and buy the correct filter.

Yah I wouldn't get a fram either... Ever.... I use the Mann filters and I usually order several so I don't have to pay shipping more than once.. I found them pretty cheap on rockauto.com along with other parts.
Considering the life of a car is the oil changes, I have never skimped out on it and have always taken it to the dealer for full-synthetic. Apparently, they use a custom Castrol Syntec formula that is only found in affiliated dealers and specially made for the related cars. German cars can't take much alteration as American cars and require very precise handling. If you stick to what it asks to the point, these cars can last you a lifetime.
