So if the filter were to ever get clogged your oil pressure would go down to zero, and if your oil pressure is at 0 while driving.............................BOOOOOOM goes your engine. Spend the extra money and buy the correct filter.
Doesn't Audi have the oil bypass circuit built into the pump? If not, I could see a lot of 1.8 engines going kaboom. If that was the case, poor engineering. I need to see the oil flow circuit on this engine before I come to conclusion tho...............
The reason I feel that the larger filter is used is not so much for added capacity is a larger filter surface to collect contaminants between the oil changes so the bypass circuit would not come into play and pass the junk back into the engine........I need to see the oil circuit.....

Whats the amount of mileage before an oil change w/ the fully synthetic oil. Change it every three thousand? Also seen every 5 thousand?? Or is it still change the filter every 3 and the oil and filter every 6?

No it doesn't, and it is poor engineering. Thats why there is a world wide TSB for fixing sludge/oil pressure issues. Look up the sludge TSB if you can find it, it will explain exactly whats wrong with the original design, its only on the A4 1.8T's, the TT 1.8's don't suffer from the same design issues.

Thats not enough info, does your car have a CVT transmission or quattro? You also need to pull the fault codes and open another thread about the issue posting the fault codes.

Read the label on the back of the pics I posted.... The Castrol Syntec in the pics IS the oil they use. I agree with you, German engines can last you a lifetime if you treat them well with regards to oil and the exact fluids they require (My old GTI with over 400k).... I'm super **** about the oil I put in my engine which is why I wanted other peoples opinions on the the oil I purchased. So far from what I've read, this is the oil the dealers use.
