Just bought a 2002 3.0 with 112,000 miles on it a couple of weeks ago and after a few days of driving I started to notice problems. It all started when I noticed that the radio (bose) would only play a few stations and the rest were static. I also realized that the tiptronic shifter would not upshift but downshifted fine. The paddle shifts work fine but I was still concerned. I finally decided to bring it into the mechanic when I noticed a small oil leak. After a day the mechanic called back and said the reason the key would not come out of the ignition was because of broken glass within some cable in the shifter preventing it from positioning completely into park. He told me the car had obviously been in an accident and that there is quite a bit of bondo in the rear corner panel. Of course this was never mentioned to me when I was looking at the car. I am a little concerned about what to do. I could buy a 2000 S4 with 137,000 miles for about the same price I would get out of this car knowing it has been in an accident. Any advice?

What would you do with this car? Did you get a carfax report? You should never buy without one. I wonder if your car has had the timing belt done...

Yeah man you should have done the CARFAX. In sincerity, I would try to get rid of it, part it out or something.
