Default oil

ok. this is my first audi and i love it. i have a 2003 a4 quattro. runs great. i have babied it for the most part. i took it to the dealership to get serviced and we had a converstaion about performance. they told me to get up on it and really run it a few times. i did and it was so much more then what i thought. well now i am getting a small ticking noise. (maybe a lifter or something) if i up the oil weight will that help any? the car only has 74,000 miles on it. any sugestions please give.

is it a ticking noise during the whole range of the RPM or when you're on certain gear? or just when you turn the car on and idle it?

its real faint on idle and gets alittle louder when the motor revs up. then you cant hear it any more until its at idle. its not loud. but i can still hear it and its kinda agrivating.

It could be something with the timing or a lifter going bad, but at the same time, the 1.8T's sound like that all the time. Did the dealer do anything other than regular service? change a belt? T-belt?

not that i know of. i only paid for an oil change and coil packs. but i didnt really hear it until a few weeks later when i really pushed the car. im hopeing that it isnt a lifter cause i know that isnt a cheap fix. thats why i asked if a little higher oil weight would help. other then this issue im very impressed with the car. i might change the clutch out though.

the 1.8 motor tends to have a loud ticking from the lifters.

its both..... its not that loud at all. i went ahead and took it to my mechanic. its not the lifters. its the electrical portion on the injectors. so i gues i have to deal with it. they are getting changed out soon anyways with biger ones. thanks every one who has replied and tried to help.
