Oil Change Question
My apologies if this has already been asked but I searched and could not find the answer to this specific question...
I have changed oil once (yes once) in my life and it was for my honda 10 years ago. I never really had a reason to change my own oil because I could always find a place to do it for about 20 bucks. But I think its time to start, since an oil change for my wife's A4 is over 100 bucks at the dealer.
Is it easy enough to figure out on your own? Is there anything in particular I need to look out for?
The thing is, I have no garage. I've heard about people just driving their car up on to a curb to get it elevated a little and I'm wondering if this really works. Otherwise should I just use the jack to raise it up?
And lastly - if someone could direct me to a step by step DIY oil change thread or article for a B6 Model I would appreciate it.

jacking it up is the best. jack on the drivers side bc the drain plug is on the opposite side so the slope will help the oil drain. put a towel under the filter when you pull it out bc it will make a mess. put in 4 quarts then run it for a minute let it sit for a minute and top it off.

like the owners manual says, definitely be sure not to overfill the oil. that can be just as bad if not worse as underfilling. especially having a 3.0, it uses more oil (1 qt or more) than other cars i've had. just take your time and enjoy saving a few bucks rather than paying $80 for a synthetic oil change (6+ quarts) at my local shop.

Was gonna say the same thing.. $80 for someone else to do a synth oil change is cheap. I just spent $75 for oil and filter.
