Hello all,

Do any of you have an oil brand and filter brand/model recommendation for a 2004 1.8T? I used Castrol Synthetic 5W30 this time and my oil pressure light is now coming on when I decelerate, so I have to wonder if it is the oil or filter.

Thanks.

Dont skimp out with a cheap aftermarket filter. Go pick one up at the AUDI DEALERSHIP. its the only one I would ever put on my AUDIs

I used Mobil 1 oil and the OEM audi oil filters in my B5 for the 3 yrs I had it without any issues. I just got my B6 and plan on using ELF oil and the OEM audi filters. I read that Mobil 1's oil composition has degraded since it was first introduced. I've read a lot of good things about the ELF oil, one of them being up to a 20 degree temperature drop in oil temp.

There's nothing wrong with the purolater filters out there. They actually are better than the more expensive mobil-1 oil filters as they have more filter media. Sticking with a brand name should be fine. I've used both brands with no problems. You could have crud on your oil sensor that is giving you problems. How many miles have you driven on this oil?

Make sure you are using a BIGGER oil filter.
