What year? I had to replace the oil level sensor on my 03 A4 1.8T this summer. $75 and two minutes during the next oil change.

its the oil pressure light in the message center. after driving around town for a short time it beeps and then goes off. kinda annoying and very frustrating not knowing what is wrong. if this is what you experienced i need the same part. is this a dealer only part or can i get at local parts store?

Oil pressure is different from oil level and sensor failure is different then low level or low pressure. make sure you are reading the proper warning light before you go buy parts.

I had a clear message about level sensor failure. Changed it out and have not seen the warning since. Check manual for the proper indicator.

If it says sensor it is the sensor. I would scan it if you want to make sure.

My wife's 3.0 Avant was doing this when we first bought it. At the time, it was running on semi-synthetic oil. After changing the oil to Mobil One 0w-40, the oil pressure light hasn't come on since.

The moral of the story is that an oil change with top quality synthetic oil may resolve this issue.

Flashing red oil light means trouble....low oil pressure which can damage the camshaft bearings and the turbo
Remove the oil sump and clean up the sump and pick up tube which is probably clogged with sludge and do an oil change with full synthetic oil. An engine flush is recommended if available or do a seafoam treatment or use Auto-Rx.

Check out the TSB if you can find it.....

Green is Oil Level
Red is Oil Pressure

There is a warning that says Oil Level Sensor, when the sensor is bad.

Green Oil Level is low fluid, maybe a leak.

Red Oil Pressure is sludge. Oil Change, BG Engine cleaning service. Oil Pickup tube replaced. But the bearing in the cam need to be inspected first. If they are damaged the engine is too far gone and need to be replaced. Audi has extended warranty on this... depending on qualifying conditions
