Piano Black Trim
i posted this on aw but got no responses so i post here. i want to match my ashtray and shift surround due to the fact audi doesnt offer them in piano black (bastards). ive tried using a flat black and clearing it but i still come up with more of a glossy black finish, not matching the trim. anyone done this yet? any ideas on how to get that dullish finish with the clear coat (which the trim is)? its too dark now but tomorrow i will post pics of the differences

I have not done this. But I had an idea: you could try using a single stage paint. It will come out duller (is that a word?) than a base and clear coat. Any place that does automotive paint should be able to pump a spray can full of the black, and mix in some clear. I've used these before and it def is not as glossy as putting a bunch of clear on top of paint. Plus it's only one step
maybe, for now im tryin to do it for as cheap as possible unless i cant then its to the paint shop i go. i saw a pic on a4mods of a double din trim looked custom that matched, maybe ill ask the admins there whos pic that is
there are some guys on audizine that do it.. mchammered or winston@podi.ca does black or silver carbon fiber! i really want silver CF (i think, maybe black) but i just bought a house, im sure the wife will be emptying my car fund [sm=boosign.gif]
